Removing the motor from a 1970 Fiat 124 Spider
The old 1438cc motor has seen better days, having thrown its timing belt and smashed a valve through one of the pistons. It's about to be replaced by a rebuilt 1592cc motor (see more photos of the new 1592 engine and new engine in).
These procedures take place in the best of all conditions - in an unheated garage with a heavy snowstorm in progress outside.
Headless and cradled in chains, old motor ready to hoist out.
"Heave Ho!" 12 volt electric winch begins pulling motor up & out.
Once clear of the radiator mount, car is rolled back from under motor.
Engine compartment now ready for comprehensive cleaning & some paint.
